MARS ONE (Mars Auto Race Season One — “Overcome, Navigate, and Elevate.”)

Written & Directed by Geo Joh

Logline: After devastating failures force humanity to abandon the Red Planet, a visionary interplanetary motorsport championship becomes a self-sustaining engine for Mars innovation, where a resourceful mechanic and his underdog team must overcome relentless setbacks and sabotage to win the inaugural title.

Synopsis: Humanity’s dream of becoming a multiplanetary species collapses as crew fatalities, technological breakdowns, and failed rescue missions erode public confidence and inflict crippling financial losses, ultimately ending the Mars Settlement Program.

Years later, USIN President Jeff Schmidt proposes an interplanetary motorsport championship. The vision gains worldwide support, leading to the launch of the MARS ONE Championship, where autonomous robots build infrastructure and Earth-based racers remotely control Martian vehicles. Powered by recent breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, robotics, and quantum engineering, MARS ONE turns the Red Planet into a proving ground for technologies that could shape humanity’s future.

Among the twenty competing teams, the struggling TerraMars Titans’ fortunes change when investor Henry James discovers Daniel Ryan, a resourceful mechanic. Working alongside virtual gaming expert Jessica and robotics specialist Antonio, Daniel’s unconventional solutions transform the Titans into contenders. But his rise sparks resentment in Allen Shawn, a celebrated racer and former team leader, whose reassignment as Daniel’s assistant wounds his pride. Allen secretly works for the rival team Cosmic Drifters, sabotaging the Titans from within.

As billions watch from Earth, the Titans battle fierce challenges to reach the final. After a cyberattack destroys their primary vehicle, Jessica pilots the team’s backup car to a historic victory.

The twenty teams’ solutions generate an abundance of new technologies and innovations. Beyond the competition, MARS ONE ignites a broader movement, encouraging people of every generation and walk of life to contribute their talents and ideas, create opportunities, transform industries, and foster Mars-focused education. This global participation propels humanity’s ambition for the Red Planet to new heights, prompting USIN to announce MARS TWO. Progress in health and life-support technology may enable human racing on Mars—ushering in a new space era.

Epilogue: Humanity once went to Mars with all we had. We gave the best we could, but Mars demanded more than we were prepared to give, and eventually, we surrendered to its unforgiving conditions. MARS ONE changed that. By bringing together talent, competition, and emerging technologies from around the world, it created an abundance of solutions and accelerated the breakthroughs humanity needed to move forward. Without this initiative, those breakthroughs might have taken generations to emerge—perhaps as long as the time between humanity’s first Moon landing and its first landing on Mars. MARS ONE became the catalyst. And now, we have more than Mars—we have the knowledge, technologies, and human potential to reach beyond it.
